Question:
Hello… We are shopping for a trailer hitch for our 2017 BMW X5 S Drive. Which is the most popular model you have and where would you recommend for installing in the xxxx ZIP Code? We don’t need it completely hid if that will save us a few hundred dollars or more. Any idea how much BMW dealers charge to install them? Will this void any warranties we have? Thank you for your time and help!

The most popular trailer hitch receiver for your 2017 BMW X5, and the one I recommend for you, is from Draw-Tite, and is definitely more cost-effective than other brands:
- Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75600
The hitch is mostly concealed, with only the receiver showing, so it is more economical than the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # SH79VR, for example, which allows you to remove the receiver so nothing is showing when you aren't using it. The Draw-Tite # 75600 is a really nice option that doesn't require any drilling into your BMW's frame and is going to be the best hitch for your BMW.
I also wanted to add, in case you were needing a 4-way wiring harness, the correct part for your BMW is the Curt Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56190KIT.
While we don't have any recommended installers, I do know that you will probably want to avoid the dealership, as they are going to charge you quite a bit more than a local mechanic. This is a job a mechanic can definitely do, so your best option is to make a couple calls to local garages you trust to see if any have any experience with hitch installs, and you shouldn't have any issue finding one. As for warranties, the installation of a trailer hitch will not void any warranty you have.
