Question:
In your comments under the Curt hitch for Mazda MX-5, you state that all non-trailer loads must be supported by stabilizing straps. What are those straps like? What do they strap to? Thanks.

Expert Reply:
On certain Curt trailer hitches, Curt requires a stabilization strap for their warranty on non-trailer loads. The strap in question is # 18050. One end attached to the bike rack or cargo carrier, the other end has a hook meant to attach to the gap between the trunk or hatch and the body of the vehicle. Basically any place that it can attach will work as long as it relieves some of the stress on the hitch.
I have included a link to a video that shows how to use the strap with a bike rack.
