Solera Awnbrella Support Kit for 10 Projection RV Awning - 3 Pack Item # LC362239 Is this UP TO 10 ft? Will it work for an 8 ft? I’m buying as a gift. All I know is their awning is a carefree 17 ft long

The Solera Awnbrella Support Kit for 10' Projection RV Awning - 3 Pack Item # LC362239 will work with an 8' awning however; because the arms will not be extended as far as they would be with a 10' awning, I don't believe you are going to have as much support.
I recommend the Solera Awnbrella Support Kit for 8' Projection RV Awning - 3 Pack Item # LC362237. This kit is designed for 8' awnings to provide the best support for that size canopy and works with awning widths from 14' to 18'.
