Question:

I’m looking for a tonneau cover and a rack I can use for my kayaks. Can you recommend a combination that will work? I like the Thule or Yakima racks, but I want a tonneau cover as well. I just bought a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with a 5-3/4 bed. I appreciate any recommendations that will work together.

In order to use a ladder rack like the Thule TracRac SR Sliding Rack # TH43002XT-782 to carry your kayaks while also having a tonneau cover, I recommend using the BAK Revolver X4s # BAK62VR. This ladder rack and tonneau cover are compatible since the Revolver X4s mounts inside the bed rails and the TracRac SR mounts on top of the rails. I really like that the TracRac sits above the cab, so it's great for carrying kayaks and will keep them from scratching up the roof of the cab. The Revolver X4 is a roll up tonneau cover with a hard backing to give you the best of both worlds in terms of ease of use and security with the hard roll up cover.

Because the crossbars on the TracRac SR are slightly bigger than normal you'll need a kayak carrier that mounts in the T-Slots on the rails. If you don't already have those I recommend using the Thule Hull-A-Port Aero Kayak Carrier # TH849000. This is a great carrier that comes with everything you need to secure 1 kayak, including cam buckle straps. You would need one of these for each kayak you're going to carry.
