Question:

Is it safe/possible to fasten kayak jbars to a roof basket? Thinking I be able to have two kayaks plus a basket for roof storage. Car is a 2018 Honda Pilot.

I have a great solution for you!

It's the Yakima OffGrid, part # Y07139-09. This cargo basket has crossbars attached to allow you to mount kayak carriers and other accessories. It measures 75" long x 49" wide, so it has plenty of space. I've linked to a video review of this basket so you can see it in action.

As for the kayak carriers, they need to be compatible with round bars, so I recommend the etrailer J-Style Kayak Carrier, part # e98878. They have straps included and only weigh around 11 pounds (I'll explain the importance of this below). I've linked to a video review of this as well.

For your storage, you can tie everything down in the basket, but I highly recommend the etrailer Cargo Bag w/ Mounting Straps, part # e98990. This will not only keep everything secure with the enclosed bag and the straps to secure it to the basket, but it's also water resistant to keep your cargo dry. I've linked to a video review of this bag along with the others.

Keep in mind that the weight capacity for the basket is 165 pounds. So, along with your kayaks' weight and the two kayak carriers, you probably won't be able to carry much cargo at the same time as the kayaks. Also, you need to factor in the weight of the basket (67 pounds) with the weight ratings of your crossbars and roof.
