It sounds like you are looking for Buyers Products Stake Pocket for Flatbed Truck or Trailer # 337B2374GZ. This will bolt onto your trailer and allow a 2x4 to be slid into the bracket. It has a tapered bottom edge that will enable a snug fit. This measures 2-1/2" tall, 6-1/2" long, 1-1/2" deep, and 5/64" thick. I have attached a demonstration video.
