Which Inverter and Power Distribution Box Can Be Paired to Provide At Least 25 Amps of Power

Updated 01/26/2021 | Published 01/21/2021

Question:

If I was to get a 3000 watt inverter which in theory should be able to provide 25amps or 50amps at peak could I power my trailer using my batteries with the progressive dynamic mighty mini 60amp?

Part of the challenge of running your RV or trailer completely off battery power is that you're going to require a rather large battery bank (at least 4 and likely as many as 8 depending on the size of the coach and what you're powering) to power things like AC units and refrigerators. Adding an inverter like the Go Power Industrial Pure Sine Wave Inverter - 3,000 Watt - 12V # 34278157 would be required to power anything that runs off AC power and is a good addition if you're not always going to have access to shore power where you camp.

You could use this with the Progressive Dynamics # PD4060K, but that unit does not accept 50 amp shore power so if you're wanting to accept 50 amp shore power you would need to go with the Progressive Dynamics RV Power Control Center with AC/DC Panel and Converter/Smart Charger - 75 Amp # PD4575K18LS8.

Overall, what you're wanting to do would work with the parts mentioned.
