For a smaller trailer like you have, I like to recommend an Axle-Less Trailer Suspension system like this Timbren System # A20RS545. This will bolt right under the frame increasing your ground clearance, lowering your deck height which helps with loading and unloading. This kit is rated for 2,000 lb and you won't have to worry if they are too wide or too narrow.

I recommend getting these Aluminum Lynx Trailer Wheel - 12" x 4" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 - Silver # LH45FR and the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # AM10130. These would look AWESOME and the radials will help with ride quality. They do not come pre-mounted, you would have to have them mounted at a local shop upon arrival. They will fit the Timbren bolt pattern which is 5 on 4-1/2. These center caps will work # AM90175 and here are some lugs # 12CLN. We also have the pre-mounted galvanized wheel that work work with the combo # AM31202.

If you wanted to go the traditional route, here is how you measure your axle.

Take note of what type of axle you have and match it up the best you can and take note of the axle springs. This will help avoid any problems with clearance. Then you'll need your axle track measurement. Measure from the face of one hub to the face of the other where the rim touches the hub. The last measurement is the spring center. The easy way to measure your spring center is to hook a tape on the outside of one spring and measure to the inside of the opposite spring.
