What Is The VIBAR Socket In The PM425-3, Red Trailer Light Is It A Brass Socket Or Something Else
Updated 08/06/2009 | Published 08/05/2009 >
Question:
Im replacing trailer lights and dont know the difference between VIBAR and brass socket. The old one has two dots? of metal that touch the two dots on the 1157 light bulb and has two wires coming out of the unit. It is 5-1/2 diameter frame, 4-1/4 lens cover. So what do I need413 or 425, VIBAR or brass? Poly or metal makes no difference. I just received the wiring from you today and bought new bulbs but that didnt fix the problem so I assume its the tail light itself. HELP! Thanks.

Expert Reply:
The VIBAR socket that is referenced in the item description for the Red Trailer Light, Flush Mount, part number PM425-3, is a vibration dampening feature that this light now has and does not affect how the bulb is installed in the light. You will still have a brass socket to install the 1157 bulb in and the VIBAR feature should allow the bulbs to last longer. This light is the direct replacement for your existing taillight.
