We have a 2009 Mercedes GL 550. What towing mirrors would you recommend?

I like the CIPA Towing Mirrors # CM11952-2 because they are a universal fit and wrap around the whole mirror. I like this type of mirror better than the CIPA Clamp On # CM11980-2 mirrors just because its a bit more of a secure fit in my opinion.
Some vehicles like your 2009 Mercedes-Benz GL 550 do not have a custom fit mirror, but the universal CIPA mirrors have a great snug fit! They are about 7-1/2 inches wide and about 4-3/4 inches tall. They can tilt and pivot to get you the perfect look at whatever you may be hauling!
