I was hoping you could tell me if bike rack item number 24848. Would be compatible with a 2014 Volkswagen Passat TDI? Someone told me that it may not fit a TDI because of the exhaust. thanks

While part # 24848 is not a fit the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11234 is a confirmed fit for your 2014 VW Passat TDI. I have linked a video of how it installs for you to check out.
As for a bike rack the Kuat Beta part # B202-114 and the Swagman XTC-2 TILT 2-Bike Platform Rack part # S64671 are both solid choices and are designed to fit the hitch I recommended for you. The Beta is best for non carbon framed bikes and the XTC-2 is great for any type of bike.
