How To Replace iRV32 Stereo with a Jensen JWM62A Stereo

Updated 06/24/2025 | Published 08/05/2020

Question:

I want to replace my defective IRV32 Stereo in my travel trailer with a Jensen JWM62A Stereo. They are both 3 zone units but I am concerned about the wiring compatibility and the difficulty to switch them out. The dimensions of the hole cut-out is not an issue just the wiring compatibility. Can you provide a wiring diagram showing the conversion between these two units or what do you suggest?

The Jensen RV Stereo part # JWM60A (JWM62A) is a great option to replace an iRV32 Stereo. In regards to the wiring, it seems like a difficult task but it's actually super easy. The only thing you need to be careful of is that you match the wires by function, not color and you won't have any issues. I have attached both diagrams for you below which is what you need to make the swap. I would also pick up the Butt Connectors part # DW05744-10 (2).

Hi Connor. I wired up the new 62A that is replacing the old IRV33 according to the wiring diagrams but there is an issue with the speakers. 2 of the zones (A and B) are barely audible while the 3rd zone (C) outside is fine. There were no rear speakers associated with the IRV33 so obviously I did not use those wires on the 62A. Can you help?

@John I'd assume it's a wiring issue with the A and B speakers. Either they aren't securely attached or they are wired incorrectly. If a speaker is wired backwards won't sound right so you might check that as well.

@JamesonC yup, checked the polarity and even removed the speakers to connect direct to the unit to be sure the the wiring wasn’t messed up somewhere. When I turn the unit on, for a fraction of a second they sound loud but immediately go super quiet.

@John Hmm that almost sounds like an internal amp issue. Are the speakers that are currently working fine the exact same as the ones that aren't?
