The Powered Tailgate Lock, # PAL8120Q, can be easily unplugged so you can remove the tailgate on your 2011 GMC 2500. When installing this lock you will run a shorter wire out of the drain hole at the bottom of your tailgate and it will plug into a longer wire that is ran to the back of your truck from the cab. There will be a simple plug-in style connection between these two wires that you can unplug to remove the tailgate.
