In order to determine the wiring functions behind the taillights of your 2006 Mini Cooper you will need to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 if needed. You will have someone sit in the vehicle and run through the turn signal, brake, and running light functions while you test the wires.
I know that on a 2005 model the wires are purple for running lights, black with green tracer is brake lights, and blue with green tracer for left turn signal. On the passenger side the blue with tan tracer is the right turn signal. I do not know if it is the same for the 2006 so testing is essential.
