Can Cable on LaSalle Bristol Cable-Actuated RV Waste Valve be Shortened

Am I able to shorten this? The valve itself is only 24” from exterior bracket and does not allow for the cable to operate well.

You can definitely cut and reattach the handle on the LaSalle Bristol Cable-Actuated RV Waste Valve # 34466N11AB96GMA, but since this has a 96" cable and you just need 24" I recommend going with part # 34466N11AB36GM instead which is the exact same part just with a 36" cable.
