How To Convert the 4-Way On a 2004 Toyota Sequoia To a 7-Way

Updated 07/14/2020 | Published 07/10/2020

Question:

I have a 2004 Sequoia with factory 4 pin and I believe the clip for a brake controller on the harness at the kick panel beside the e-brake. I bought an adapter for 4pin to 4pin and 7blade, but I don’t know where to run the purple, black, and blue wires. I have a camper that has electric brakes, so I need the 7blade to fully function. Can you help explain how to finish the install?

In order to convert the 4-way on a 2004 Toyota Sequoia to a 7-way you'd need to use something like the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # ETBC7. The additional wires for this adapter will need to be run to the battery (black), brake controller (blue), and ground (white) using the included circuits breakers and wires etc.. This would then allow you to add a brake controller like the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160.

That said, I would need to know the exact adapter you have in order to be able to offer installation advice.
