Can Yakima CoreBar Crossbars Be Cut To Desired Length

Question:

Hi I read that it’s okay to cut them down to size but what would you recommend? I was thinking of a hack saw with a very good blade. Cutting down the Yakima timberline cross bars

Expert Reply:

The Timberline is actually the towers # Y33TR, so you will either have the CoreBar crossbars # Y00421 or the JetStream # Y00426. You can trim these bars to a shorter length and I do recommend using a new hack saw blade to do so. The aluminum crossbar will cut easily so you will want to make sure you have a very straight cut and take it slow or you would easily mar your bars. Make sure you double check your fit before making any cuts.
