Availability of Replacement Tie-Down Strap for Curt Hitch Mount Cargo Bag

Question:

I purchased a Curt 18211 cargo bag last year for my Kia Sorrento. The exhaust has melted one of the straps and hardened a couple of others. Do you have replacement straps for this bag? Also, any suggestions to avoid the heat of the exhaust from damaging the straps? Seems the manufacturer missed this in their design. Also, how does it melt the straps and NOT the bag. As far as I can tell the bag is undamaged. thank you,

There are unfortunately no replacement straps for the Curt Cargo Bag for Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier # C18211 so you will need to look into alternatives as replacements, or choose a replacement hitch cargo bag from the linked selection.

The exhaust melting something behind the car is something that Curt actually does address in the written instructions that come with your bag (see attached photo) under the Warnings section. To keep this from happening in the future you will need to find an exhaust tip you can install to re-direct the exhaust away from the bag/carrier. I'm honestly not sure why the strap would melt but the bag wouldn't be damaged at all.
