Question:
I have a 2007 Toyota Tacoma 4 X 4 I presently have a Prodigy hand held controller unit installed. I want to get rid of that unit and install another brake controller. I have two trailers a boat and a travel trailer. Both have electric brakes. The Tacoma has the factory wiring for connecting to a trailer What are your recommendations for a brake controller. Is there anything else that I will need to install this brake controller. Thank you,

If you're looking to do a simple upgrade to your original Prodigy brake controller then I recommend using the Prodigy P2 # 90885 or P3 # 90195. These are both just more recent models of what you have and the P3 is the only controller that I know of which uses an LCD screen to make it easier to adjust settings and troubleshoot (when the need arises).
To install either of these on your 2007 Toyota Tacoma it's going to be just a matter of unplugging the pigtail at the back of your Prodigy and then plugging it into the back of one of these controllers.
With that being said my current favorite controller is the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # 3RED44FR because it is a simple design that uses lights to communicate instead of codes, plus you only have to interact with a single control knob that can be installed virtually anywhere. To complete the installation you'll need the pigtail # 3040-P with the adapter # 331-TPH-017 which will plug into your factory brake controller port and the controller, and then you can use the Mounting Panel # 331-TPSI-007 if you'd like to place it in the switch panel on your Tacoma.
