Can you replace just the coupler on a Surge Brake Actuator or do you have to replace the whole thing? My coupler is rusting out but the Actuator part looks OK.

The best option for a surge brake actuator with a bad coupler is to replace the entire actuator. I would need to know the exact make and model of your surge brake actuator in order to see if a replacement coupler is available which is not always the case. I don't have any info on your trailer in particular but the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator part # DM8605101 for disc or part # DM72VR for drum are both great options so long as the frame, coupler, and weight rating are all correct.
