Can Standard Bolt be Used for Yakima Bike Rack
Updated 06/29/2020 | Published 06/25/2020 >
Question:
I lost my anti-rattle bolt and found a 5/8 bolt with a shank that works. Is there a problem just using a bolt? My Rack looks a bit like a Yakima Big Horn or Road Trip

If the bolt fits then it fits honestly. The only reason you might want to stick with the anti-rattle bolt for your BigHorn # Y8780018 is that I can see not using the actual equipment as voiding the warranty if something was to happen to the rack. Especially when it comes to just using a standard bolt instead of a threaded bolt that keeps the bike rack still. You'll definitely see more movement using just a regular bolt.
If you'd like to get the correct replacement just send me some pics of your bike rack and I can help you determine what the correct part will be.
