Compatibility of Aluminum Trailer Wheel with Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly AKHD-865-7-2-K

Updated 06/11/2020 | Published 06/09/2020

Question:

I have a car trailer with 16 x 6 - 8 on 6.5 rims with 235 / 80 R16 tires. The rims have 5.12 inch center bores pilot diameters. I was interested in replacing the rims with aluminum rims but noice you have none with a center bore of 5.12 inches. Can I use 4.9 inch center bore rims? I purchased 4 of these from you guys. what is the pilot hole dimension required for the rims that I put on these. I see the pilot hole can be 4.88 inches or 4.9 inches or 5.12 inches. Which rims are compatible. I am interested in aluminum rims can you recommend some. I see them on your site but they have different requirements for pilot hole.

If you had some extra space between the pilot hole and the center section of your older hub assemblies then you definitely could use an aluminum wheel with a 4.9" pilot like the Viking Series Valhalla Trailer Wheel # AX02665865HDBML.

Since you swapped out to 4 of the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-865-7-2-K you will be able to use any of our aluminum wheels or wheel/tire combos which I have linked for you to check out. If you like the wheel that I mentioned above and you're needing to get new tires too then we have an excellent combo of part # A16RG8BML80 which includes that same wheel with the Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Tire which has a Load Range G (4,080 lbs at 110 psi) and an 81 mph speed rating.
