Thule Passage vs. Thule Gateway Pro Trunk-Mount Bike Rack for 2011 Subaru Forester
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
My daughter has a 2011 Subaru Forester, with the roof extension that I believe is supposed to cut down on dust accumulating on the rear window via aerodynamics. My question is if either the Thule Gateway pro or Thule Passage is a recommended bike rack. She will only be carrying one bike. Thanks

I checked with Thule and verified that both the Thule Passage # TH910XT and Thule Gateway Pro # TH88VR will fit your daughter's 2011 Subaru Forester.
These are both solid options for a trunk-mounted bike rack but between the two I recommend the Thule Gateway Pro # TH88VR.
The Gateway Pro has a more robust strap system to anchor the rack than the Passage, has cradles which are more cushioned and conforming to bikes, and has an integrated cable lock to secure the bike to the rack, which the Passage does not.
The only thing to keep in mind is that if your daughter's bike has a step-through frame she will need the Bike Frame Adapter Bar # 64005 to give the bike a horizontal mounting point.
