Can a 2016 BMW X1 Tow 3,500 Lbs with the Curt Hitch C13303
Updated 05/20/2020 | Published 05/18/2020 >
Question:
What is the total tow weight with the hitch installed properly? **I see some other responses that state the towing capacity of a 2017 is only around 1500 lbs, so Im a little confused on how the GTW shown for Item # C13303 states 3500 lbs.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13303 which is a fit for a 2016 BMW X1 (All Models) has a gross trailer weight rating of 3,500 lbs which is the most the trailer can weigh. That said, trailer hitches are tested separate of the vehicle so if the vehicle is rated lower you'll need to abide by this figure. For example, if the vehicle only has a 1,500 lb towing capacity (confirm in owner's manual) then that is the most the trailer can weigh regardless of the trailer hitch.
In order to complete the towing setup you'll need the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Connector part # 118717 and the etrailer Ball Mount Kit part # 989900.
