Updated 07/09/2009 | Published 07/08/2009 >
Question:
If 500lbs is loaded on the cable/reel and 500lbs is added, will the reel unspool? How does the winch lock in either direction?

Expert Reply:
This hand winch has a worm gear, which when turned, turns the gear. It cannot be reversed by the load, but simply stops when you stop turning. The reel will not unspool with added weight since there is no free spool mode. Just make sure the you don't go over the capacity of the winch and you should be fine.
