hooking up a trailer brake acuater on a 1994 K1500 Z71 chev, need to know if I have to use a wire off the brake light switch on the pedal if so which one ,color or if there is a place to connect to

In order to find the correct wire on the brake switch to connect to the red wire on a brake controller, you will need to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 if needed. Probe the wires on the brake switch located above the brake pedal. You are looking for the wire that shows a signal only when the brake pedal is pressed and not also with the headlights or turn signals.
Once you have found the correct wire attach the brake controller red wire to it.
There is another option. On some 90s GM full size trucks, there is a body strut that makes the stoplight switch very difficult to access. You can look at the fuse box under the dash for a terminal marked NAT. Test that terminal with a circuit tester to see if it fires with the brake pedal. If so, you can use a female spade connector to access brake signal there.
