Question:
So I watched the video on the install for the 24’ winch plug extension to the rear of a truck. My question is why run the full length on the black ground wire to the front of the truck than ground it to the body near the battery?? Why not just ground the black wire to the truck chassis @ the rear only needing 2’ section will be need! Also saving 1/2 the cost of the wire??

In regards to the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit part # BDW20207, the length of ground wire is included to ensure a good ground on every application. The kits are not tailor made to any one particular application and not all customers will have a good spot to ground the winch x amount of feet away from the rear bumper. The connection to the battery takes this out of the equation and ensures you don't have intermittent function issues caused by a poor ground. If you want to ground the wire to the truck frame, you can obtain the
Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set w/Dust Cover part # BDW20133 and supply your own wire.
