Video Transcript for Bulldog Winch Electric Winch BDW20133 Review

Today we're going to review part # BDW20133. This is the Bulldog Electrical Quick Connect Set for electric winches. This quick connect set is used to allow you to easily connect and disconnect your electric winch on your vehicle. These connectors have a 175 amp rating for continuous duty. They are designed to install with a 2 gauge wire size. All the connectors themselves are made of a polycarbonate housing for strength and durability.

They use these high grade copper terminals that are silver plated for protection from corrosion. These terminals themselves will accept a wire gauge size of anywhere from 0 to 4 gauge basically when you go to install them. Now this set will include the two connectors, the four terminals, and it even has this one piece dust cover with the wire tether to put over your connector on your vehicle when it's not connected. Basically what you would do is one of these connectors is going to attach to the wires on your winch. The other's going to attach to the wires that are on your vehicles battery that supplies the power. Simply what you have to do is just take these terminals and you'll notice what you'll do is strip a portion of your cable or your wire, slide it in there, either crimp it or solder it whichever you prefer.

You do that on two of them and then what you'll do is go to these connectors right here and all you'll have to do, let me pull the dust cover off is there's a spring right in here and they're spring loaded; you'll just take the terminal as sort of a hook to the end here. With the hook pointing down. You'll make sure if it's the positive; you'll look on this connector and it'll show a + for the positive. If the wire attach you'll just push this all the way in. When you do that it'll click into place. Same way with your wire attached here for negative, same way, just push it in there.

Push it in all the way and you'll see it clicks in and then you're connector's ready. Then you'll go to your connector over here for your winch. Get your winch wires and you'll do the same thing using these two terminals. Run your wire to there, the positive and the negative. Make sure you line them up in the correct location and the same way with the hook facing down just put the wire in the terminal and pop it into place.

Put the hook down. Now your terminals are ready to use. What happens is with this on the winch and this on the vehicle, when you decide to put the winch on the front of the vehicle all you have to do is line the connectors up, push them together and you got a good tight weather proof connection. Terminals are not exposed. Then when you want to remove the winch and you're not going to use it maybe for a while and you don't want to have it on the vehicle just pull them apart, take your dust cover put it right on the vehicle; that will protect your terminals that are on your vehicle. Very simple, quick connect set up. That should do it for the review on part # BDW20133 the Bulldog Electrical Quick Connect Set for electric winches. .

Hi quality product, better than I expected. Also reasonably priced. It will be a quality accessory added to the vehicle and be interchangeable to the next vehicle I purchase. Thanks etrailer for making my shopping easier. AND Talk about quick service and delivery all 5 Star for me. I purchased both front and rear hook ups for my winch or other things that will need power and they are both just what the doctor ordered.

After a temporary "fubar" with my order, it finally arrived. I couldn't be happier with the quality & design of this kit. VERY well built. And the installation video was perfect for a DIY'r like me. Thank U etrailer. U guys really came through!!!

Great product, good tight connection. It makes hooking up the winch on my trailer a breeze. No more worrying about dead batteries.

Just to let everyone know I have bought several items from etrailer and I have no complant s what so ever.everything works just fine and a perfect fit.easy installation also.I would recommend etrailer.

  • Winch Quick Connector Availability for Making Wiring Adapter Between Trailer and Truck
What you will need to do is use quick connects like the part # BDW20133 and then the gauge wire needed for what your winch draws to make the adapter you need. You would need a total of two of the # BDW20133 so that you have enough connectors for the setup.

  • How to Wire Two Electric Winches to a Vehicle with Dual Batteries
When wiring two separate winches to a vehicle with dual batteries, you will need a circuit breaker for each winch. A circuit breaker is designed to protect the vehicles circuitry in the event of a short in the winch wiring. Almost all winch circuit breakers are equipped with an auto-resetting feature. If the winch you have did not come with a circuit breaker or you simply need to replace the circuit breaker, you will want to use one rated for the maximum amperage draw of the winch. If...

  • Would the Bulldog Winch 175 Quick Connects Mate with Spectro Stackable Connectors
I pulled up some pictures of the Spectro Quick Connector and the Bull Dog Quick Connect part # BDW20133 would have no problem connecting to it. The quick connectors like this are all generally the same design so they all work with each other just fine. The # BDW20158 is the part number for just the dust covers. These also should fit to since they are designed for that same quick connect design.

  • What Gauge Wire Is Recommended for Use with the Quick Disconnects part # BDW20133
We don't sell the wire alone, but you will need to get sections of 2 gauge wire to use with the Quick Disconnects part # SW2236 that you referenced. The terminal contacts will need to be soldered to the wire. If you want the wire with disconnects, then the part # BDW20207 will serve you well. You can shorten the wire and use the remaining length for the other side of the connection if desired.

  • Can 2 AWG Be Used on the Superwinch Winch 2 Go 4000
The Superwinch Winch 2 Go 4000 comes with 6 AWG. Therefore the correct quick-disconnect terminal would be part # BDW20047 which is rated for 6-10 AWG, not part # BDW20133 which is rated for 2-4 AWG. In order to use the quick-disconnect terminal rated for 2-4 AWG, you would also need to change out the wires in the box that run from the ring terminals on the winch to the quick-disconnect terminal on the back of the box.

  • Why Does the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit Ground To the Battery and Not the Frame
In regards to the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit part # BDW20207, the length of ground wire is included to ensure a good ground on every application. The kits are not tailor made to any one particular application and not all customers will have a good spot to ground the winch x amount of feet away from the rear bumper. The connection to the battery takes this out of the equation and ensures you don't have intermittent function issues caused by a poor ground. If you want to ground the wire...

  • How to Tell if Bulldog Winch Quick Connect Will Work With Badlands Winch
There are many different capacities of Badlands winch so it's not possible to tell you outright if the Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set for Powersports w/ Dust Cover - 6 AWG # BDW20047 will work with your Badlands winch. You can pretty easily tell though, as if your winch uses the same 6 AWG you can absolutely use the Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set # BDW20047.

  • Are Quick Connectors from Bulldog Winch Booster Cable Set Available Separately
We do have the connectors for the Bulldog Winch Booster Cable Set w/ Power Leads # BDW20197 available seperately as part # BDW20133. Both kits come with 1 plug (for the end that stays on the vehicle) so if you'd like additional plugs to help protect all of the connections then you'll need 2 of the Dust Cover # BDW20158.

  • Recommended Quick Connects for a Winch Being Installed on a Boat
Since the quick connects are only rated to 50 amps I'd beef up your cables to cover your 150 amp max pull rating. The 6 AWG is a minimum so you can go bigger, luckily. I'd steer towards something like the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit # BDW20207 or for just the quick connects # BDW20133. This kit/connectors are going to work with 2 AWG wire which is larger, however they are rated for up to 175 Amps so you'll have your coverage.

  • How to Make 20 foot Long 2 Gauge Quick Disconnects for Winch
I have a solution for you, but there isn't a 20 foot long version of the part # BDW20219 that you referenced. Instead you would need to provide 20 feet of 2 gauge wire and then use the # BDW20133 for quick connects on either end. These connectors are the same as what comes with the 24 foot # BDW20207.

  • How many Quick Connectors are Included in the Dutton-Lainson Electrical Quick Connects # DL24085
When ordering the Dutton-Lainson Electrical Quick Connect, # DL24805, you will get 2 plastic connectors, one male and one female and 4 quick connect terminals, properly sized for soldering 6 gauge wire into them, to make one complete quick disconnect setup. If you are using a larger gauge wire for installation of a large winch, you would need to go with the Superwinch Quick Connects, # BDW20133, for 2-4 AWG Wire.

  • Recommended Wiring Kit for Hitch Mounted Winch
The Deka 2 Gauge Professional Service Booster Cables, # DW00161, can be used to power your hitch mounted winch, but it wasn't really designed for that use and I think there is a better option. I recommend the easy disconnect system # BDW20133, that gives you better contacts on both ends than a clamp will allow. The easy connect, disconnect feature allows you a much more convenient option. I have attached an installation video for you of a similar setup.

The Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 65041 is rated for up to 9,000 lbs line pull but you can honestly use whatever size winch you want to for your 2004 Toyota Tacoma. As long as you don't exceed the weight rating of the front mount hitch/winch you are good to go. For your application the 9,500 lb Bulldog Winch Standard Series Off-Road Winch # BDW10042 is a great option because it is rated slightly higher than your front mount hitch (so you get the most out of that weight...

To install a winch on your GMC Sierra 1500 I recommend installing a front mount trailer hitch receiver and use a removeable winch mount. If you can tell me what Year your GMC Sierra 1500 is I would be happy to recommend a front mount trailer hitch receiver for you. • Can The 7-Way Trailer Connection Be Used To Power Winch If Vehicle Is Running
The wiring that feeds the 12-volt accessory circuit on the 7-way trailer connector is of too small a gauge to allow enough power to pass through to run a winch. The main function of that circuit would be for lighter-duty applications, such as providing power for interior trailer lights or to maintain a trailer mounted battery. The Bulldog Winch Trailer Winch - Wire Rope - Roller Fairlead - 4,400 lbs, # BDW15019, will require some power as it draws 28 amps at 0 lbs but 340 amps at full...

The Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set # BDW20133 that you referenced will work with winches that have 2 gauge wiring. The weight capacity of your winch is a function of both motor capacity/wiring gauge, and also its gear train. If your winch uses 2 gauge wiring then you can use this connector # BDW20133. We also offer part # BDW20047 that's designed for use with 6 gauge wiring.
