Question:
I have 2012 silverado hd 2500 chevy my other hitch had horse hair and it melted from the exhaust, will yours withstand the heat from the exhaust?

The Rock Tamers Heavy-Duty Adjustable Mud Flap you referenced, part # ERT00108 is made from 3/8 inch thick rubber. They should certainly resist heat better than something made out of horse hair, but just about anything will eventually become damaged if it is close enough to the exhaust outlet. I would recommend using an exhaust tip that relocated the discharge downward or outward toward the side of the truck. We offer various exhaust tips that might work for you, click on the provided link.
In order to use this product, you must have one inch of clearance between the front face of your receiver and the rear of your ball mount face as shown in the diagram.
