will this item #LC379605 work the motor on the steps with out haveing to replace the motor

You can replace just the control unit; you do not not have replace the motor as well on your Kwikee steps. So a separate motor for your steps is not required when you purchase the Replacement Control Unit for Kwikee Electric RV Steps # LC379605.
