What Holds Hitch Ball of Curt Gooseneck Hitch # C60683 In Hitch

Updated 03/05/2020 | Published 03/04/2020

Question:

Hello I have a 2015 F250 and use this daily to pull a 16’ dump trailer. It’s been installed for over 2 years now. This past weekend the top pin sheared off while hauling my skid steer and I have a new locking pin ordered. My question is what holds the ball up until the ball is locked into place. I have not received or installed the new lock yet and when I put the ball in it falls all the way through the unit. What do I need to do to make the ball sit again until I can lock the handle. Thanks in advance,

If you check out the attached picture you can see that there are two pins that hold the hitch ball of the Curt gooseneck part # C60683. A lower one that the ball sits on top of and a higher one that fits through the side of the hitch ball and retracts to allow the ball to remove or install.
