Cable Length Capacity on the DL14725

Question:

I need to replace 2 Shelby model 5408 winches. I see where you recommend the DL14725. Will these winches hold 160 feet of 7X19 3/16inch cable? Thank you

Good question. The Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch - TUFFPLATE Finish - 2 Speed - Direct Drive - 2,000 lbs part # DL14725 is rated to hold 58 feet of 9/32" cable. That cable has a diameter is 3 times that of what you intend to use on it with the 3/16. With that said this winch should be able to handle 174 feet of the 3/16" cable that you require. Keep in mind that you would need to pay careful attention when spooling up the cable to ensure that it is tight and layered properly.
