The first thing I would do here is make sure that you've located the correct wires to tap into, as the colors aren't always going to be the same as they show in the videos that demonstrate installation of the Pop and Lock # PAL8250. If you did not test them before tapping into them, you're going to want to test the functions of the wires by activating the "lock" and "unlock" on your power door locks using a circuit tester like the # PTW2993. If you don't get power to those wires when those functions are activated, you'll want to test the different wires in that bundle to find the wires that do activate when you lock and unlock the doors using your power door locks.
If you're tapped into the correct wires, you'll want to re-check and make sure the plugs are plugged in tightly and then move on to check the wiring on the lock mechanism and the mechanism itself. You'll start by testing the wires that were plugged into on the tail gate to make sure that they're receiving power when you activate the power lock and unlock on your truck; it might be a situation where those wires just aren't functioning properly at the back because of some sort of damage. If you're not receiving power on those wires when the functions are engaged, you'll need to run new wiring from the tailgate to the front of the truck. You can use # 16-1-1 wiring, which is sold by the foot to run the new wires.
If you've performed these tests and still have not identified the issue, please let me know and I can give you a few other steps to perform to get your Pop and Lock up and running.
