The Prodigy P3 brake controller part # 90195 is widely considered to be the best brake controller on the market because of how well it performs, how reliable it is, and because of the intuitive and easy to understand display.
It's a proportional controller that uses an inertia sensor to detect how hard you are applying the vehicle brakes and applies a proportional amount of braking to the trailer brakes. Most OEM controllers deliver a preset amount of braking intensity over time that you can adjust manually but is not ideal. The display of this shows full message read outs that don't require you to decipher any codes either. It also has ability to save trailer settings as well. This controller can also activate electric over hydraulic trailer brakes as well unlike the OEM controller of a Tundra. Check out the review video link I attached for more info as well.
To install this controller in your 2017 Toyota Tundra the install harness you want is the part # 3031-P which plugs in under the dash of the truck.
