How to Paint Galvanized CE Smith Single Axle Trailer Fender
Published 01/29/2020 >
Question:
I had my new fenders wire welded and am ready to paint, but Rust-Oleum metal primer says, not for use on galvanized metal. How should these fenders be painted?

Thanks for the purchase and that's a good question. In order to paint a galvanized fender such as the CE Smith Single Axle Trailer Fender # CE17700G, you need to use a water-based primer and then a water-based paint. I am guessing that the primer you have currently is oil-based (sometimes called petroleum-based).
There are definitely water-based primers and paints for galvanized steel available at local hardware/home improvement stores, just look for something that specifies "galvanized metal primers" and you'll be set.
