Opening the Master Lock Safe Space Box When Door Wont Open

I contacted Master Lock directly regarding the Master Lock Safe Space Portable Storage Box with Combination Lock # ML5900D . The first suggestion was that sometimes even when the correct combination is entered and the numbers are ever slightly offset, it can release the cable while not allowing the door open.

The second suggestion was that after trying to realign and reenter the code and it still will not open, using a flat surface tool like a srewdriver may open the door used carefully.
