Troubleshooting Low Battery Code on Blue Ox Patriot Supplemental Braking System

Question:

We are currently running our Blue Ox in a 2019 Ford Ranger. After about one hour of running time, the Blue Ox error codes a low battery with the tow vehicle. And upon checking the tow vehicle battery is full. Any suugestions?

I believe you are seeing the 04 low battery alert code which indicates that either the towed car's battery is depleted or that there is another issue such as a dirty 12V power outlet that is not passing enough power. You might clean the pins of the plug and socket. The cigarette lighter outlet that powers the Patriot must output at least 13.1 volts for proper operation. The Patriot # BLU37TR also has an internal battery which could be low too, but based on the error code saying tow vehicle that seems unlikely.
