Can P3 Brake Controller Install in 2015 Ram 5500 with Factory Controller for Use with EOH Brakes
Published 01/02/2020 >
Question:
I own a 2015 Ram 5500 6.7 turbo diesel. The truck factory trailer brake never seemed to work properly so I want to install the tekonsha P3 on to my truck and plug it to hydraulic trailer brake. Will it work? And if so what adapter harness will I be needing? Thanks!

The Prodigy P3 # 90195 will fit your 2015 Ram 5500 and will operate your electric over hydraulic brakes MUCH better than your OEM controller. The OEM controllers rarely work well with the EOH setups but the P3 works really well with them. So to install this controller in your truck will require the # 3024-P install harness.
Once you disconnect the factory unit a code will appear on your dash. This error code does not affect operation of the Prodigy but if you want to clear it you will need to visit a dealership to have them electronically disengage the factory controller connection. This will clear the code and your P3 will work fine, giving you superior proportional trailer braking power.
