Question:

Hello, I have a 2014 Yakima Fatcat 6 which I used with a 2014 BMW 335 xDrive with base mounts from BMW. The rails are about 3 inch wide. I just purchased a 2020 BMW X3 M40i with BMW base mounts which are 4 inch wide and the Fat Cat 6 no longer fits as the rails are too wide. Will this Yakima Mount work with the older Fatcat 6 and fit the new BMW X3 OEM rails?

We do have an option for you, although the Replacement Mounting Hardware for Yakima FatCat Ski and Snowboard Carrier # Y8860078 will not work with the 4" wide factory crossbars on your 2020 BMW X3 M40i. The reason for that is these are simply replacement brackets that only work with crossbars up to 3-7/16" wide, like the original brackets.

What you will need to do instead is use the Universal MightyMounts for Yakima Roof Mounted Accessories # Y03590, which will work with your older Yakima FatCat 6 and crossbars that are up to 4" wide and 1-1/2" tall, so you are going to want to verify the exact size of your BMW's crossbars.
