Question:

Hi there! I have a 2018 Volkswagen Alltrack. We recently got the VW brand cross bars and were excited to finally make use of the old Thule 250 box that has been sitting unused for about 20 years. Unfortunately, the existing hardware for the small square bars that the box had been attached to is too small both the bracket and bolt length ~2 for the much chunkier VW bars. I have discovered a number of u-bar options on your site and am wondering if you could point me in the direction of a part that might accommodate the VW bar dimensions. The 4inch wide spacing is good for the existing holes on the box but I am unsure what u-bar depth I might need. I dont have access to the box right now, otherwise Id measure it. Alternatively, are there any mounting pieces I could use to attach the old Thule square cross bars to my Alltrack roof rails? If nothing else, I may just end up using zip ties on the VW bars! Thanks for any assistance you can offer

The best option we have for replacement hardware for your Thule 250 box is the QM3 kit part # TH04997 which would give you mounting hardware that would fit the factory bars of your 2019 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack. You will have to modify the box to make this fit so you'll need to use your best judgment. This will be much safer that zip ties too!
