Hitch Installation and Lift Gate Sensor Operation on 2020 Audi Q5

Question:

I am wondering what hitch you recommend for my 2020 Audi Q5 and what all is involved. Also, will my hands free lift gate still work?

The trailer hitch I recommend for a 2020 Audi Q5 is the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch part # 76183. The Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch is a custom bolt-on option with no drilling required and has a hidden design therefore the receiver tube is the only portion visible from outside the vehicle. I have attached an install photo for you as well as a video that shows the entire process.

In regards to the hands free lift gate sensor, this will not be an issue but you will need to place your photo on either side of the receiver tube in order to activate the sensor. Therefore, you will be slightly limited but the sensor will still work just fine so no worries here.

If you will be towing, you will also need a trailer wiring harness and ball mount/hitch ball. The ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 119250KIT is my recommendation for trailer wiring as this is the only option that does not require any splicing. The Ball Mount Kit part # 989900 would then have you covered for the ball mount/hitch ball portion.
