Is It Safe to Remove Exhaust Shield on 2019 Kia Niro When Installing Curt Trailer Hitch
Published 11/15/2019 >
Question:
Dear etrailer. I plan on getting the Curt C13329 hitch for my 2019 Kia Niro and noticed in the instructions that the heat shield has to be removed and it isn't put back on. Is this going to be an issue. Any precautions I need to take driving a vehicle around without a heat shield?

Expert Reply:
You are right that the exhaust shield on your 2019 Kia Niro needs to be permanently removed to install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13329, however there's no need to be concerned about missing it. Once the trailer hitch is in place, it will actually take over the shield's duties of protecting the exhaust and will do just as good a job. You do not need to be worried about any effect on performance, safety, or warranty after installation.
I have attached an installation video and the written instructions manual that you can check out as well.
