Question:
I love the looks of your PK11720 socket connector. I have a cheap one, the screws which retain the wires where they into the holes of the 7-pole connector are rusting after only two weeks following installation. Are the screws on the Pollak PK11720 stainless steel or brass? Your help and advice greatly apfpreciated.

Expert Reply:
I pulled a Pollak Heavy-Duty, 7-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket, # PK11720, from the warehouse and examined the screws. They are regular steel screws. If you wanted stainless steel for the best corrosion resistance, you can replace these screws with stainless ones from a hardware store.
Taking measures to prevent corrosion will also help. Using the rubber boot, # PK11761, will help keep moisture from the contacts.
