Question:

Ive had this hitch for a little while now and the U bolt connecting the chain to the bar has worn. One is half way eaten through, the other completely broke off while driving creating a nasty jerk. The bar fell off onto the road creating a potentially very hazardous condition for myself and others. Thankfully no bad ending here but I now know to keep an eye on this point on the hitch. My question is are there replacement u bolts available from here for it? I am having a heck of a time finding the right size at any of the local hardware stores.

For a replacement U-bolt for the Blue Ox weight distribution systems we have the # BX201-0758. For new nuts you'd need the part # BX202-0090 and for washers # BX203-0003.

It's not common for the U-bolt to wear out like this but if you are in a really dusty climate or any other type of area that would allow dirt/debris to easily get into that U-bolt and grind it down that might be the cause. You could try keeping the u-bolt as clean as possible to see if that helps.
