Can the Glow Step Stow and Go Mounting Bracket Be Mounted Horizontally Under the Camper?

Question:
My 9’ Palomino Backpacker has an overhang on my GMC 2500 8’ bed but doesn’t have space under the door to install the mounting bracket. The dealer just installed the steps and left the bracket off. Is there a way to use the mounting bracket horizontally mounted under the edge of the camper and still swing the steps down to use them?

I have a solution for you but I was able to reach out to one of my contacts at TorkLift and the GlowStep Stow N' Go Mounting Bracket # TLA7810 needs to be mounted vertically, not horizontally, because of concerns with the leverage required to hold the steps on.
TorkLift recommended having an iron/steel plate mounted under your door, that hangs down a bit past the bottom edge of the camper, in order to mount the steps. This shouldn't interfere with anything on the camper or truck and would allow you to mount the steps using the bracket you want.
