Question:

I purchased the HM56200 from you guys 2 years ago. It was easy to install and worked great for two years. The vehicle I tow is a 2014 Jeep Wrangler. A couple of weeks ago I got a message that my left tail light was out. Before I replaced it, I checked and it wasnt out and worked fine for about a day. It now works intermediately. I will get the warning message and when I use the left turn signal it gives me the fast blinking. Then a few minutes later it works ok. When I hook the jeep up behind the RV neither turn signal or brake lights work on the jeep. So I have a few questions 1 Am I correct to assume there is some type of short in the relay? 2 If that is the case do I need to replace all the wiring or can I just replace the relay? 3 Do you just sell the relay or do I need to buy the entire kit? From what you describe, the the relays in the converter are going bad, and my contact at Hopkins agrees. The relays aren't readily accessible and aren't designed to be replaceable, so your best bet would be to replace the # HM56200 harness entirely. Or, you could go in a different direction with a more reliable hardwired system like the # RM-15267 from Roadmaster. Installation of this product would mean tapping into the wiring harnesses for the taillights of your Jeep, but this installation would be much more reliable and this is actually the best selling taillight wiring option for your Jeep.
