Can I Use Blocks Under the Feet Of Brophy Heavy Duty Cable Camper Jacks
Updated 09/12/2019 | Published 09/11/2019 >
Question:
Im looking to ditch our 1996 jacks which only work by hand. The above jacks are very appealing for our 3000lb dry truck camper. My concern is the reach of the 90° flange that touches the sides of the camper. If the ground under the jacks give a little, it can allow a sway enough for the camper to slide off. Has anyone suggested placing something under the feet? Im sure the manufacturer does not want raise the jacks in the air but 1.5 inches of support would distribute the weight. What say you? Thanks for your great site!

I contacted Brophy and the Brophy Heavy Duty Cable Camper Jacks part # CX74 are designed to be used on a solid flat surface preferably concrete. Your concerns are valid that the camper may slide off if the ground is unstable. They do not recommend using blocks or supports under the feet that will raise the jacks up because that could cause instabilities as well. You are best to use the jacks on solid ground.
