How do I know this is same one I have it’s for a garden tub in a96 Victorian home it has a 1/2 inch hose that screws in to it

The Replacement End Valve w/ Seat and Stem for Phoenix Faucets Garden Tub Faucets # PF184003 looks a lot like the piece you have in the picture you sent in. I went out to the warehouse and found that this is compatible with a 1/2" hose like what you mentioned, it has an overall length of 4", an overall diameter of about 1", and the smaller piece in the middle has about a 3/8" opening. I have attached a dimensional photo for you to check out.
