The Camco RV and Marine Premium Water Filter w/ Replaceable Cartridge and Hose Extension part # CAM40631 is meant to be used on the main water line on the exterior of the trailer. I contacted Camco and there would not be a way to connect a hot water line to the filter because it is designed to be hooked to a hose. It is also not made to filter hot water. Currently all of the water filters that we carry are exterior filters.

It sounds like once the water gets into your water heater it reacts to the metal of the heating element like part # CAM11563 which gives it a rotten egg smell. To eliminate the smell you can periodically flush the water heater with 3% hydrogen peroxide. You only want to use 1 to 2 pints per 40 gallon water tank. There are also water heater filtration systems available.
