Question:
What is correct Blue Ox base plate for 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk? I sold my 2015 Jeep Wrangler and Im in the process of buying a 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk Steel Bumper with tow hooks. Ill be pulling the Trailhawk behind our motor home as I did with the Wrangler. I want to go with Blue Ox because that is what was on the Wrangler, and I kept the tow bar. This time around your website is confusing. You only reference Blue Ox part numbers BX1141 and BX1143 for 2019 Cherokees . Following the links you indicate the BX1141 is the correct base plate. However, the instructions for the BX1141 state it is for aluminum bumper no tow hooks model Cherokees. Blue Oxs web site call out the BX1140 for the Trailhawk steel bumper with tow hooks. Blue Ox also does not show a model BX1143 which is called out on your website at one point. I also cant find any video on your website of installing the Blue Ox base plate on 2019 Cherokee Trailhawks. Is there a problem with Blue Ox base plates on the 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk? If youd like to use my 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk to make a video, Id be happy to drive it down to you :. Thanks for your support! Im a regular customer of yours.

Thanks for being a regular customer and I have confirmed with Blue Ox that the correct base plate kit for your 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with a steel bumper and tow hooks is the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1143.
The reason you are seeing a different part number on the Blue Ox site is because the # BX1143 actually replaced the BX1140 for the 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with a steel bumper and tow hooks; it was simply a part number change (for reasons that go beyond my pay grade).
Since you have a Blue Ox tow bars like the Blue Ox Avail # BX7420, the other parts you need are a wiring kit and supplemental braking system. For a wiring kit the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 is perfect because it is designed to prevent any type of feedback to your '19 Cherokee, protecting it's electrical system.
For a braking system I recommend the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700 because it sounds like you are someone who regularly flat tows and the InvisiBrake is a one-time set up that is not going to require constant installation and removal like a portable braking system. You will also need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751471 on your '19 Cherokee with the use of a supplemental braking system. This kit is needed to ensure the braking system works as it is intended.
I have added links to video reviews and installs of the wiring kit and braking system for you to take a look at.
